» Spring Street Parking Park – Complete

In the fall of 1999 the DDA purchased and razed a vacant building in order to build access from Baraga Avenue. Purchase of the railroad right-of-way which divides the parking lot is also planned. Parking Lot construction cost is estimated to be $375.000. The re-design will add 63 spaces to serve the Front Street/Baraga Street businesses and encourage building on private parking lots in this area. The City has committed to an infrastructure improvement project for Spring Street which will include lighting and streetscape improvements. One property owner has already committed to building on a vacant lot on Front Street based on the parking lot.

» Rosewood Walkway - Lakeshore Blvd Street Parking Project - Complete

The 'Rosewood Connection' between the 200 Block of Front Street and Lakeshore Boulevard continues to be a work in progress. The design has been completed and approved. The concrete pillar has been removed to open the view from Front Street to Lake Superior. The walkway will easily carry walkers from the planned parking lot along Lakeshore Blvd. to be constructed or from Downtown to the Lake. Construction should take place in 2002. These projects are components of the EDA Marquette Business Regeneration Grant project.
